Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has assured cocoa farmers of the government’s resolve to adjust the producer price of cocoa for the 2024/25 season.
This follows reports of the current world market price and latest farm gate price for cocoa in Ivory Coast exceeding Ghana’s rate by 20 per cent.
According to him, the new adjustment which was yet to be announced would cushion cocoa farmers and help to avoid the possible risk of cocoa smuggling to Ivory Coast.
Dr Bawumia gave the assurance at Okogyeabour palace in Sefwi Wiawso during his three-day tour of the Western North Region.
He appealed to the electorate to retain the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government in power to continue the good policies and development projects ongoing across the country.
He explained that with the current state of development and strategic policies in the country, voting for any other party apart from the NPP would bring regression.
He said the NPP’s performance had been exceptional and deserved another term to continue with the good works.
Dr Bawumia mentioned the introduction of Free Senior High School, One Constituency – One Ambulance, restoration of teacher trainees and nurses’ allowance, creation of six new regions, Ghana Card, and Agenda 111, among other polices that had been implemented by the government.
He stated that the next NPP government under his leadership would introduce Credit Score System, Loans for Women Empowerment, Free Tertiary Education for Persons with Disabilities (PWD’s).
He would also ensure a 50 per cent reduction in electricity tariffs with the construction of 2000 megawatts of solar energy to complement the current power generation systems.
Mr Festus Bumagamah Agyeapong, NPP Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for Sefwi- Wiawso Constituency, urged the people of to vote him as their next Member of Parliament (MP) for the area and Dr Bawumia as the next President to develop Ghana.
Traditional authorities in the area commended Dr Bawumia for a decent campaign and execution of various projects in the constituencies.
They, however, requested the completion of ongoing major projects and creation of additional districts within the Region.
