The vice presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has pledged that if the NDC wins the upcoming election, the next government will prioritise the construction and reconstruction of markets across Ghana to better support trading activities.
Acknowledging the significant role women play in trading, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasised the need for upgraded facilities to enable women to thrive in their businesses.
This initiative, she explained, aligns with the NDC’s policy commitment to establishing a Women’s Development Bank, which is designed to empower women entrepreneurs and enhance their economic standing.
During her three-day campaign tour in the Ashanti Region, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang reassured women traders that their needs would be prioritised under the NDC’s leadership.
She expressed that the party remains focused on fostering economic growth by creating favourable conditions for women’s businesses to flourish.
Speaking to traders in Asankare within the Asante Akim South Constituency, she underscored the NDC’s dedication to uplifting women, affirming that supporting women in business is a vital step toward national economic development.
“We vote for development projects, and if progress isn’t being made, it’s time to consider a change. We should support a party that prioritizes development—this is why voting for the NDC is the right choice."
“The NDC is the only party that builds market and the Kejetia Market is a testament to that so vote for the NDC.”
