Former First Lady Lordina Dramani Mahama has met queen mothers in the Bono, Ahafo and Bono East regions to campaign for votes for her husband, John Dramani Mahama, reminding them of the laudable manifesto promises of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mrs Mahama held separate meetings with the regional associations of queen mothers in Sunyani, Kenyasi, and Techiman to promote the #Mahama4Change2024 message and her promise to work with Ghanaians to Build the Ghana we want.
These engagements are part of Mrs Mahama’s campaign across the country to interact with traditional leaders, women, and other identified groups to garner their support for her husband.
Nana Serwaa Brakatu Bonsu II, president of the Bono East Regional Queen Mothers Association, and her fellow queen mothers praised Mr. Mahama for the significant initiatives he implemented for them during his tenure as vice president and president.
Some of these interventions include the introduction of allowances for paramount queen mothers, the provision of buses for regional queen mothers, and numerous developmental projects such as the Mahama E-Blocks, other educational and health facilities, and roads.
The queen mothers in all three newly created regions expressed concern about the neglect and lack of development projects since their creation from the former Brong Ahafo.
They appealed to the former First Lady to relay their grievances to the NDC presidential candidate, urging him to resume work on all abandoned projects, such as the Wenchi and Ofuman roads and the Wenchi SHS girls’ dormitory, after his re-election in the December election.
The queen mothers also commended Mrs Mahama for her interventions during her tenure as First Lady and even while in opposition, and for her recognition of queen mothers and women in general.
They requested that more women be included in the next NDC administration because Ghanaian women have the capacity to excel at every level when given the opportunity.
