The New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate for election 2024, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged to elevate Kumawu to a municipality status if he wins the upcoming election.
He made this commitment during a recent campaign event, highlighting his focus on local development and empowerment.
Dr Bawumia emphasised that the upgrade to a municipality would bring more resources and development to the area, improving infrastructure and local services.
According to him, the move would not only benefit Kumawu but also stimulate economic growth for the surrounding communities.
He added that the change in status would ensure better governance, with increased investment in sectors such as education, healthcare, and sanitation.
The Vice President also encouraged the residents of Kumawu to vote for the NPP, promising that their support would lead to greater progress in the area.
The pledge to upgrade Kumawu forms part of Bawumia’s broader agenda to enhance local governance and strengthen the country’s regional economies.
“I can contest again if I win the elections but the same cannot be said for John Dramani Mahama. We plan to build a nursing training college in the Kumawu constituency, fix your roads and upgrade Kumawu to a municipality."
“I will account for all these promises when I return to campaign for re-election," he stated.
