The Electoral Commission (EC) has commenced the nationwide transfer of ballot papers and election materials to designated holding centers across the country as part of preparations for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
The six-day exercise began in Accra on Thursday, November 14, with the movement of parliamentary ballots from printing facilities in the North Industrial Area to the Greater Accra Regional Police Command.
Similar transfers are being conducted across the regions to ensure timely and secure delivery of election materials.
In the Upper East Region, ballot papers have been securely stored in the armory of the Regional Police Headquarters in Bolgatanga. The process is being overseen by EC officials, security personnel, and representatives of political parties.
Speaking to JoyNews, representatives from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) expressed satisfaction with the measures in place to safeguard the materials.
In the Ashanti Region, election materials were received at the Kumasi Police Depot under strict supervision.
The Regional Director of the EC, along with party representatives, ensured that all items were accounted for and securely stored.
Political parties in the region have vowed to monitor the materials closely to prevent any manipulation.
