President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed his appreciation to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his wise counsel and support to his administration.
The President paid glowing tribute to the Asante King for his immense contribution to national development through transformative traditional leadership.
He said his involvement in critical national issues, especially peacebuilding, remains crucial to the country's stability and development.
President Akufo-Addo, who is in the final days of his administration, has been touring the country to thank the chiefs and people of Ghana for giving him their mandate to lead the country for eight years.
He told the Asantehene that he came to seek his blessings when vying for the highest office of the land and it was only appropriate to show his appreciation at the end of his tenure.
He said he had no doubt that Otumfuo would continue to use his influence to promote peace in the country as Ghana headed to the polls on December 7.
That, he noted, was important for accelerated development, which thrives in a peaceful environment.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu congratulated the President for successfully bringing his tenure to an end and paying his dues to the nation.
He said the Ashanti Region had its fair share of the national cake under his leadership and wished him well in the next phase of his life.
The President, who later paid a courtesy call to the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs, enumerated his achievements in the region and justified why the New Patriotic Party (NPP) deserved another term in office.
