The National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has stated that only John Dramani Mahama can use the country’s resources judiciously for the benefit of all citizens.
The former president, Mr John Mahama, who is seeking re-election, is promising to "reset" the country, as he believes the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has driven the country into bankruptcy and also captured the state for personal and partisan interests.
According to Mr Gyamfi, the current government has distorted every sector of the country and caused economic hardship, and therefore, the NDC and Mr Mahama should be given a chance to revitalise the nation’s economy and improve the lives of the people.
"He is a man who will come to stop corruption, end state capture, and apply resources and funds judiciously for the betterment of our welfare as a people."
He added that the next NDC government would create opportunities "not for a select few, but for every Ghanaian," adding that the former president is "very measured with what he promises because, for him, integrity is the most important virtue that every leader must display."
Mr Gyamfi, who was speaking on Joy News AM Show in a one-on-one interview with Benjamin Akakpo on Wednesday, November 27, also addressed the depreciation of the cedi.
He stated that a major factor contributing to this issue was the "shortage of US dollars", which he attributed to reckless borrowing under the Nana Addo-Bawumia government.
He urged Ghanaians to vote for the NDC and John Mahama in the December 7 election.
As the country counts down to the polls, the two major political parties are intensifying their campaigns across the country.
While the vice president, Dr Bawumia, is seeking to become the substantive president and sustain what the current administration has achieved, such as the free senior high school programme, the former president is also seeking re-election to correct the wrongs in the system and has promised to share national resources equally.
