The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced a schedule of media briefings to provide timely updates on the Presidential and Parliamentary Elections scheduled for 7th December, 2024.
The briefings are aimed at ensuring transparency and keeping the public informed about the electoral process.
In a statement issued and signed by the Deputy Chairman for Operations, Mr Samuel Tettey, the Commission emphasised the importance of accurate reporting during the elections.
Media personnel with accreditation for the National Collation Centre are therefore invited to cover the briefings, which will offer updates on election activities, respond to reports from across the country, and address any concerns.
The schedule for the briefings is as follows:
- 9:00 AM: First briefing
- 12:00 PM: Second briefing
- 3:00 PM: Third briefing
- 6:00 PM: Fourth briefing
- 9:00 PM onwards: Continuous updates as results are received from the regions
Each session will last no more than 30 minutes. The EC also plans to conduct additional briefings after 9:00 PM as results come in, continuing until the official declaration of the Presidential Election results.
The Commission has urged media houses and the general public to verify election-related information with the EC before dissemination to prevent the spread of misinformation. A toll-free line—0800 324 324—has been provided for inquiries and clarifications.
“The Electoral Commission remains committed to delivering fair, transparent, credible, and peaceful elections,” the statement added.
