The Ghana Police Service has arrested 12 suspects in connection with looting and damage to properties in various parts of the country during post-election disturbances.
In a statement issued on Sunday, December 8, the police noted that preliminary investigations reveal that the suspects were involved in several attacks, including setting the Electoral Commission (EC) office ablaze in Damongo, damaging residences of District Chief Executives (DCEs), and vandalising collation centres.
The police disclosed that the suspects also broke into the School Feeding Project Warehouse in Tamale, stealing foodstuffs and other items.
"Footages of the attacks, vandalism and looting have been obtained and are being reviewed by a team of dedicated investigators to get other perpetrators arrested to face justice," it added.
The police assured the public that officers have been strategically deployed to maintain law and order in key locations.
"We urge the public to remain calm as our intensified patrols continue to restore peace and protect public and private property," the statement read.
