President-elect John Dramani Mahama has vowed to restore Ghana’s position as the "Black Star of Africa." He describes his upcoming term as a legacy period dedicated to leaving a lasting, positive impact before retiring from active politics.
Mr Mahama made this pledge on Friday, December 13, during a courtesy visit by China’s Ambassador to Ghana, Tong Defa, who conveyed a congratulatory message from President Xi Jinping at the president-elect’s private residence in Accra.
The president-elect expressed gratitude for China’s longstanding partnership with Ghana and assured the ambassador of continued open dialogue to strengthen bilateral relations.
“I remain your son, and I appreciate the good counsel and collaboration we have shared over the years. My doors will always be open for consultations, and I hope this mutual relationship will only grow stronger,” Mahama remarked.
Reflecting on his vision for Ghana, he acknowledged the challenges ahead, stating, “The elections were the easy part; the real work now begins. My mission is to bring Ghana back to its rightful place as the Black Star of Africa."
"This term is about building a lasting legacy, ensuring that I retire with a name synonymous with progress and excellence. I will give my utmost effort to take Ghana to where it deserves to be.”
