Nigerian actress Ini Edo has commended women for constantly taking active leadership positions across the continent especially in the creative space.
The celebrated actress was responding to a question on her contributions to the movie industry especially the significant role she played as a co-producer and actress in one of the most watched movies across the globe, 'Shanty Town'.
Speaking in the interview with Joy Prime, she said, ‘I mean, for me as a woman in this industry and this particular generation, I think it's such a blessing that women have finally or are finally taking their rightful positions as a creative industry all around the world'.
The Nollywood actress was also quick to touch on the growing numbers of women back home in Nigeria who have proven that they're capable of producing and directing great movies in the cinemas. She mentioned that most movies that have done really great and got the big numbers in the Cinemas have women behind them which indicates that we are gradually moving away from the positioning of women as a 'minor gender' in the corporate world, politics, creative industry and others.
Attributiting this feat to hard work, confidence and dedication, the actress believes that the jinx that women can't handle leadership positions have been broken and it can only get better in the future.
Ini Edo is currently in Ghana for promotion for the premiere of the movie 'ONE NIGHT GUESTS' which is directed by Peter Sedufia and produced by Chris Odeh.
The movie is set to be premiered at the Silverbird Cinemas in Ghana and Nigeria on 25th December, 2024 and also features stars like Chidi Mokeme, Warri Pikin, Lasisi Elenu , Akah Nnani, Majid Michel, Yvonne Okoro , Roselyn Ngissah , James Gardiner, Annabel and a host of others.
