The Ashanti regional division of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has condemned what it describes as a terrifying attack on the residence of its divisional chairman, Dr (Med) Paa Kwesi Baidoo, in Kumasi.
The association says while Dr Baidoo was at work, some unknown persons at about 7 p.m. on December 18, 2024, entered the premises to raze a giant tree on the compound, which fell on the roof of the building, trapping the wife and 2-year-old toddler in the building.
The tree that fell on the house also broke the roof, damaging some personal effects.
Not even the shouts for help from the traumatized woman and the child could catch the attention of the perpetrators, who hurriedly left the premises, said the statement.

According to a release signed by Dr Bernard Hammond and Brefo Agyen Frimpong, Divisional Vice and Secretary, respectively, it took some passersby to assist them out of the house.
Dr Baidoo, who was at work, rushed to the scene later after being called on the phone.
A report has since been lodged with the Ashanti Regional Police Command for further investigations.
The Ghana Medical Association is demanding the immediate arrest, prosecution and subsequent punishment of the culprits, while it calls for compensation for Dr Baidoo’s family for their damaged belongings.
