Information available to Luv Sport indicates intense lobbying for various positions in the sports sector, as John Dramani Mahama warms up as Ghana’s new President.
One position which is being hotly contested is the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA).
The Authority has come under scrutiny lately for all the wrong reasons, including their inability to keep the pitches at our various stadia in good condition resulting in a CAF ban before the final 2025 AFCON qualifiers, as well as reports of corrupt practices and a poor maintenance culture leaving most sporting facilities in a very bad state.
Many sports enthusiasts across the country are glamouring for a leader with a sports background instead of appointing politicians to such technical positions.
One name emerging from many sporting circles as a suitable candidate for the position of Director General of the NSA is Prof Emmanuel Osei Sarpong.

Prof Osei Sarpong has been associated with sports at the University level for over 18 years.
He was acting Sports Coach at the University of Education, Winneba, between October 2001 and July 2004. He was a lecturer in Physical Education and Sports at the same university from December 2006-February 2016.

The skilled Sports Professor became a Senior Lecturer in Physical Education and Sports at the University of Education Winneba from March 2016 to July 2022 and later an Associate Professor, Exercise and Sports Science.
Professor Emmanuel Osei Sarpong has enormous experience in the field of sports and has good interpersonal relations grounded in respect for all and fair application of rules and regulations within a given setup.
He also has extensive international and national networks for professional and institutional advancement.
For those who know Prof Emmanuel Sarpong and have worked closely with him over the years, it will be a game changer for development of Ghana sports if he is appointed to the enviable position of Director General of the National Sports Authority.
