President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that his vision for Ghana’s future is anchored on restoring hope and creating opportunities for all citizens.
Speaking at the first National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service at Madina today, the President outlined his administration’s approach to addressing key challenges, particularly unemployment and healthcare access.
President Mahama expressed a strong commitment to tackling the country’s unemployment issue, especially among the youth. "We will address the challenges of unemployment by investing in entrepreneurship, vocational training, and value chain development in agriculture and industry," he said.
He further stressed that the youth of Ghana deserve better opportunities, and his government is dedicated to providing them with the necessary tools and support to help them thrive.
Turning to healthcare, President Mahama pledged to prioritise access to quality care for all Ghanaians, regardless of their economic status or geographical location. "We will ensure that every Ghanaian, no matter where they are or what their economic status is, has access to quality healthcare," he declared.
He also revealed plans to address unfinished healthcare facilities, saying, "We will compile an inventory of all uncompleted hospitals, prepare a comprehensive plan, and ensure these facilities are completed and fully operational."
To further strengthen the healthcare system, the President announced that the government would uncap the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) levy in the next budget.
"This is important to ensure that the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has sufficient funds to reimburse healthcare providers promptly for the care they deliver to the public," he explained.
President Mahama reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating a prosperous, inclusive future for all Ghanaians, with a particular focus on youth empowerment and improved healthcare.
