The Association of African Sustainability Practitioners (AASuP) has commended President John Mahama for creating the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, highlighting it as a significant step toward addressing Ghana’s pressing energy and environmental challenges.
In a statement signed by Humphrey K. Tetteh, Director of AASuP and CEO of Think Energy Media, the Association lauded the initiative as a demonstration of forward-thinking leadership and a strong commitment to steering Ghana toward a low-carbon economy and sustainable development.
The statement emphasized AASuP's pledge to support the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition.
‘’Through our media platform, The Think Energy Media, which focuses on sustainability and ESG issues across Africa, we are committed to providing strategic expertise, capacity building, and comprehensive media coverage to amplify the ministry’s efforts and ensure its success,’’ Mr Tetteh said.
He further stated that the newly constituted National Executive Council of AASuP, comprising seasoned experts from sectors such as renewable energy, construction, transportation, banking, and academia, is prepared to engage in meaningful discussions and collaborations.
“the council’s diverse expertise positions us to contribute effectively to your administration’s green transition initiatives, ensuring a holistic and inclusive approach to Ghana’s sustainability goals,” he added.
AASuP expressed its eagerness to collaborate with the administration to develop and implement policies and programs that promote sustainable development, climate change mitigation, and environmental conservation.
“Together, we can create a resilient and environmentally responsible Ghana," Mr. Tetteh said.
The Association also congratulated Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, on her historic inauguration as the first female Vice President of Ghana.
The statement described her ascension as a testament to the trust and confidence Ghanaians have in her leadership and vision for a sustainable and prosperous Ghana.
‘’We are excited about the prospects of working with your administration to advance sustainable development and climate accountability in Ghana,” the release stated.
AASuP wished President Mahama a successful administration, expressing optimism for building a brighter and more sustainable future for Ghana under his leadership.
