Outgoing chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Kudjoe Fianoo has lauded Sports Minister nominee Kofi Adams for being present at the 2025 elections.
Members of the welfare body for clubs gathered at the Association’s secretariat to elect John Ansah as its new Chairman.
Adams arrived at the venue in time to show support and oversee the process having been appointed as the head of the Sports Ministry by President John Mahama.
“He has taken the right step by showing his face here [Accra Sports Stadium],” Fianoo said.
“This is the first time I’m witnessing such a thing. Ministers usually show up during confirmation ceremonies or official swearing-in events, but this is the first time the minister-designate has made an appearance beforehand.
The enthusiasm with which he was received is evident, and I believe that with the same energy, we will support him.”
The 49-year-old, who awaits vetting by the Appointments Committee of Parliament, is expected to replace Mustafa Ussif, who served as Minister of Sports from 2021.
Kofi is expected to change the fortunes of the industry including sports infrastructure, national teams funding and performance at major tournaments.
