Former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Inusah Fuseini, has condemned the act of making unverified allegations against individuals without being held accountable, describing it as an example of impunity.
Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, February 8, 2025, Mr Fuseini argued that no action of such nature can be justified, emphasizing that public discourse must be anchored in responsibility and fairness.
"No action of such nature can be justified on the basis of ‘everybody.’ That’s what I said," he stated, clarifying his position on the matter.
This comes on the back of some unsavory comment made against the reputation of MP, Zanetor Rawlings' late father and former President Jerry John Rawlings in Parliament last week.
He further expressed concern over situations where individuals make accusations against others in their absence, preventing them from defending themselves.
"To say something about somebody without being held accountable is bad. And at the time that you were saying those things, that person, or his family or his relatives were not there to counter what you are saying. That’s impunity. You’re not being held accountable," Mr Fuseini stressed.
His remarks came during a panel discussion with legal expert Kofi Bentil, who had earlier elaborated on the importance of accountability in public discourse.
