Ghana international, Andre Ayew, has opened up on how he’s dealt with criticism, especially with the rise of social media.
The 35-year-old who has not featured for Ghana’s Black Stars for almost a year, has had his fair share of high-profile lows with the national team, exposing him to wild criticism.
Ayew explains the importance of staying mentally resilient in order not to lose focus with the emergence of technology.
"Everything has a good and bad side so, sometimes, try to understand where the criticism comes from - it can help you.
“We play football for the people, especially in our country and continent where we love the game so much.
But, today, if somebody is frustrated they can just write anything (online). That's where we need to be strong and not pay attention to that sort of thing.
“You want to make the people happy, (but) when it's just nonsense talk, push it away,” he told the BBC.
Ayew has not made the Black Stars squad since March when he played in the friendly against Uganda.
