A five-month-old baby girl has been tragically killed in Bawku after assailants forcibly seized her from her mother and violently hurled her to the ground, resulting in her untimely death.
The grieving mother, who had stepped out to trade, was reportedly ambushed by the attackers, subjected to a brutal beating, and had her infant daughter snatched from her before the horrific act was committed.
This harrowing incident marks yet another casualty in the ongoing conflict in Bawku and along the Bolgatanga-Tamale highway, pushing the death toll to 55 since hostilities reignited in October 2024.
Despite intensified efforts by security forces to quell the unrest and safeguard commuters, armed assailants continue to unleash deadly attacks, deepening fear and uncertainty among residents and travellers in the region.
