After nearly 13 years of vacancy, the Shama traditional area has a new paramount chief [Omanhene], Osagyefo Kwaw Fraiku IV.
His enstoolment follows a ruling by the Asafo Companies Number 1 and 4 of Shama, which have the authority to select a chief.
Their decision was upheld by the Western Regional House of Chiefs, paving the way for his installation.

Osagyefo Kwaw Fraiku IV now assumes the presidency of the Shama Traditional Council. Once gazetted, he will be officially sworn in as a member of the Western Regional House of Chiefs, barring any legal challenges.
Speaking in an interview with JoyNews, he outlined his vision for Shama, highlighting the urgent need for development. He acknowledged the setbacks caused by prolonged chieftaincy disputes and pledged to focus on key sectors such as health infrastructure, education, and road networks to drive progress in the area.

His enstoolment signals a fresh start for Shama, with hopes of stability and growth under his leadership.
