The Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, was joined by the Defence Minister, Omane Boamah, the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, and other government officials for the 77th Anniversary of the 28th February 1948 Christianburg Crossroad Shooting at the Nationalism Park, Osu in Accra.
The annual flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony was held to honour and remember the three ex-servicemen Sergeant Adjetey, Corporal Attipoe, and Private Odartey who were brutally murdered in 1948 by colonial police while marching to the Osu Castle to present a petition to the then Governor, Sir Gerald Creasy.

The petition was a protest against the meagre gratuity payments received after their service in the Second World War, following several unsuccessful appeals to the colonial administration for fair compensation.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang, accompanied by the Defence Minister and Minister for the Interior, laid a wreath on behalf of the government and the People of Ghana.

The Chief of the Defence Staff, General Thomas Oppong Peprah, laid the second wreath on behalf of the security services, while wreaths were also laid by Major General Clayton Yaachie (rtd), immediate past Chairman of the Veterans Association of Ghana, Osu Alata Mantsɛ Nii Kwabena Bonney V, and Mr. Michael Attipoe, a representative of the families of the three fallen heroes.

Other dignitaries at the ceremony included the Inspector General of the Ghana Police Service (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, Presidential Advisor on the 24-hour economy, Goosie Obuadum Tanoh, leader of the People's National Convention Bernard Mornah, among others.

A parade contingent consisting of officers from the Ghana Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, and the Veterans Association of Ghana was also in attendance.
