Kazakhstan has reaffirmed its support for Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, endorsing the Autonomy Plan proposed by Morocco in 2007 as a serious and credible basis for resolving the Sahara issue.
In a Joint Statement signed in Rabat, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Murat Nurtleu, and Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, underscored Kazakhstan’s support for Morocco’s territorial integrity.
Kazakhstan’s endorsement carries particular significance given its influence in Central Asia and aligns with the growing international support for the Autonomy Plan as the only viable solution to the regional dispute over Morocco’s Southern Provinces.
The statement also highlighted Kazakhstan’s appreciation for UN-led efforts to resolve the Sahara issue, reaffirming its support for the UN political process in line with relevant Security Council resolutions.
The latest UN Security Council resolution, 2756, adopted on October 31, 2024, reaffirmed the Autonomy Initiative’s credibility and emphasized a realistic, pragmatic, and compromise-based solution within the round-table framework.
Kazakhstan’s backing further strengthens Morocco’s diplomatic achievements, in line with the guidelines of the King.
