The Vice Chair of the Education Committee of Parliament and Member of Parliament for Kintampo, Joseph Kwame Kumah, has accused the Akufo-Addo government of exaggerating the impact of the Free Senior High School (SHS) program.
According to him, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) prioritized political gains over proper planning, leading to challenges in the program’s implementation.
Speaking on the opposition National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) policy direction regarding Free SHS, Mr. Kumah stated that the party has critically analyzed the program and intends to review it to ensure its effectiveness and sustainability.
“The NPP rushed into implementing Free SHS. The NDC had an agreement with the World Bank to complete the E-block projects before rolling it out, but the NPP used the program as propaganda to win elections,” he said.
He assured that under an NDC administration, the program would be restructured to address its inefficiencies and improve quality education for all.
