Ghana coach Otto Addo has described football as "complex" and admitted that his head would have been on the chopping block if the Black Stars had lost against Chad.
After going six matches without a victory, the Ghana FA responded to the slump in form by appointing Winfried Anton Schafer as Technical Advisor, Sports Psychologist Kris Perquy, and Desmond Ofei as assistant coach to support Otto Addo.
The changes seemed to pay off immediately, as the Black Stars hammered Chad 5-0 in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
When asked about the impact of the technical additions, Otto said: "Football is way too complex to blame it on this or that person. [if] We had lost, the blame would have been placed on me. [Winning] it is because of somebody else.
"The truth is, it is the players, the spectators, the media, me.
"I want to also say big congratulations to the green keepers for the grass. It was wet so it is much better to play. So it is a lot of things, not only technical team but also surely, the new members of the technical team have their part, for sure."
Ghana sit top of Group I with 12 points and a win against Madagascar on Monday would further solidify their place at the top and move them closer to securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
