Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has refuted allegations that he approved a $1.7 million single-source procurement contract.

He described the claims as entirely false and urged the public to disregard them.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, 22nd March, Dr Forson dismissed the accusations as “baseless and misleading,” reaffirming his commitment to transparency and responsible economic governance.

He maintained that since assuming office, he has not authorised any procurement contracts.

“My attention has been drawn to yet another baseless and misleading claim circulating about an alleged $1.7 million single-source procurement contract approved by me,” he stated.

“This claim is completely false and should be disregarded. Let me state clearly and categorically: I have not approved any procurements since I took office as Minister. My focus remains on ensuring transparency, accountability, and responsible economic management in the best interest of Ghana.”

Furthermore, the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) has issued a statement clarifying that it has not approved any such contract.

The Finance Minister reassured the public of his unwavering commitment to upholding ethical standards in the management of Ghana’s economy.

He reiterated that his priority remains to foster fiscal responsibility and to ensure due process in all financial transactions.
