The Minority Leader in Parliament, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for the Effutu constituency, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has commissioned a 6-unit classroom block for the pupils of Effutu AME Zion A.B.C JHS.
For years, pupils of Effutu AME Zion A.B.C JHS had been studying in a dilapidated and unsafe building until the school authorities appealed to the MP for support to save lives and protect property.

Speaking during the commissioning of the newly built 6-unit classroom block, the lawmaker advised the female students to stay away from early relationships that could ruin their lives. He also cautioned the male students against drug abuse and early sexual activity.

Afenyo-Markin further pledged to construct an ICT centre and a library for the pupils of AME Zion JHS to help improve education in the area.
The Minority Leader also called on the current government to desist from intimidating and harassing former government appointees, urging them instead to focus on the development of the country.

According to Afenyo-Markin, it is time for politicians to stop disgracing their opponents after every election. He urged the government to create an enabling environment for ordinary Ghanaians rather than creating insecurity in the country.
Meanwhile, the Effutu Municipal Education Director, Diana Anderson, commended the MP for his dedication to improving education in the municipality.
She pledged to ensure the facility is well maintained and serves its purpose for a long time.
