Some residents of Nsuokyire in the Aowin District of the Western Region have confronted illegal miners who have set up camp along the Tano River.

The angry residents have vowed not to allow mining along the river, fearing it will lead to flooding in their communities.

In response, they set fire to the miners' settlements, demanding that they vacate the area immediately.
This action follows the circulation of a viral video by Green Gold TV, which exposed the illegal takeover of the Tano Numre Forest by miners and the pollution of the Tano River.

Chinese miners have reportedly taken control of the banks of the Tano River in Samereboi and surrounding villages, causing direct contamination of the vital water source.
Despite several reports by JoyNews on the matter, no significant action has been taken.
