The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare-Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has called for a thorough investigation after cables, believed to be part of the missing Electrical Company of Ghana (ECG) goods, were found in his constituency.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, April 2, A Plus shared that a truck carrying cables broke down in Gomoa Awombrew, a town in his constituency.
Residents, suspicious that the cargo might be linked to the missing ECG items, quickly alerted the Swedru Divisional Police Command.
The police, with the help of ECG officials, inspected the cargo, and the driver was unable to provide clear details about the goods’ origin or destination.
The waybill was also deemed suspicious. After further checks, ECG officials confirmed the cables matched their missing stock.
As a result, the driver, his assistant, and others involved have been taken into police custody while investigations continue.
The police have also called on National Security to assist in the inquiry.
“The authorities are doing their job, and I am hopeful that this will lead to a full investigation,” said A-Plus in his post.
