The Ghana-Russia Centre for Commerce and Relations (The Centre) has engaged in a meeting with His Excellency Dr Abdulla Al Mandoos, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Ghana, to explore collaborative opportunities aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and fostering mutual benefits between the two nations.

At the high-level meeting held on Tuesday, April 15 in Accra, discussions were focused on enhancing cooperation in several key sectors, particularly in science and technology, education, and youth engagement.

The delegation from The Centre was led by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr John Aggrey who highlighted some critical roles that science and technology play in societal transformation and showed interest in The Centre's eagerness to tap into the UAE’s advanced technological expertise.

Dr. Abdulla Al Mandoos underscored the UAE’s success in tech-driven initiatives and reaffirmed his country's willingness to share knowledge, resources, and experience.

According to Mr Aggrey, "Collaborative opportunities were discussed, with a focus on joint research projects, technology transfers, and capacity-building programmes aimed at empowering the youth in Ghana. As Ghana boasts a youthful population, the potential for innovation and entrepreneurship was recognised as both a challenge and an opportunity," he said after the engagement.

Dr Abdulla Al Mandoos emphasised the exploration of additional areas for bilateral collaboration, including trade, fintech, and investment opportunities.

The Ambassador acknowledged the significant untapped potential for partnership between the two nations, noting that open dialogue would be crucial to furthering these efforts.

Mr Aggrey said his office and the UAE Embassy commit to advancing the talks, "There is growing optimism surrounding the future of this collaboration. With shared goals for growth, innovation, and community empowerment, both Ghana and the UAE are poised to embark on a mutually beneficial journey, which could inspire progress across borders," he said.

He emphasised that "This meeting represented an important step in strengthening ties between Ghana and the UAE, with a focus on sectors such as science, technology, youth engagement, and community development. The realisation of these initiatives promises to foster a legacy of mutual growth and shared prosperity for both countries."
