The Volta River Authority (VRA) is assuring Ghanaians of its commitment to sustainable electricity production to meet supply needs.
According to its Chief Executive Officer, Edward Obeng Kenzo, his outfit is doing everything possible to meet the demand for power production.
He also indicated that the staff have been well motivated to enhance their operational efficiency to deliver their utmost for efficient power supply.
VRA is presently working out modalities with stakeholders to generate adequate resources to beef up production.
Mr. Obeng Kenzo says his mission is to redeem all debts owed by customers and the move, according to energy and financial Analysts, is working efficiently.Â
"VRA is sincerely on a mission for growth with a good record of operational growth and profit earning"., he said.
It recorded a profit of GH¢110.893 million in 2022, based on the Auditor General’s 2022 Report. In 2021, the Authority registered a profit of GH¢112.758 million.
Its total income increased by 34% to GH¢5.628 billion in 2022, from GH¢4.199 million in 2021. The increase in total income was due to a 38.7% increase in revenue from power sales.
The current assets also increased by 36.1% from GH¢8.631 billion in 2021 to GH¢11.751 billion in 2022. This was due to an increase in trade and other receivables.
Market watchers believe VRA is well-positioned to generate good income, an indication of strategic and quality leadership at the helm of affairs. Â
