The Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has issued a directive to all Regional Ministers and Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to urgently submit details of Assembly Members within their jurisdiction as part of efforts to begin the payment of monthly allowances.
The directive, dated 30th April 2025, follows the government’s commitment under its “Resetting Agenda” and is in reference to Page 73, Section 395 of the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy, which makes provision for monthly allowances for all Assembly Members.

In a wireless message from the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, officials were instructed to use a standardised template provided by the Ministry and to submit the required information via email to the Decentralisation Unit, copying Mr Samuel Passah at samuel.passah@mlgrd.gov.gh, no later than Friday, 9th May 2025.
“This forms part of efforts to initiate the payment of monthly allowances to the Honourable Assembly Members,” the message stated.
Assemblies have been urged to treat the matter with urgency and ensure timely submission to avoid delays in the implementation process.
