Andre Ayew and Ransford Königsdörffer achieved significant feats as Ghanaian players abroad delivered impressive performances over the weekend.
Here’s a wrap-up of their contributions:
Mohammed Kudus starred for West Ham, providing the assist for the opening goal in their 2-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday. Kudus now has three assists and four goals in 30 league games.
Thomas Partey was instrumental for Arsenal as they came from two goals down to draw 2-2 against Premier League champions Liverpool at Anfield. Arsenal have 68 points, trailing Liverpool by 15 points.
Antoine Semenyo’s Bournemouth lost further ground in their pursuit of European football after a 1-0 home defeat to Aston Villa. Bournemouth are tenth in the table with 53 points, nine points shy of seventh.
In Spain, Jerry Afriyie scored a crucial late equaliser for CD Lugo in a 2-2 draw against Gimnàstic, after assisting the opener. This earned his side a vital point in their relegation battle in the Spanish third tier. Afriyie is now back in the Black Satellites camp ahead of today’s U-20 AFCON quarterfinal clash against Egypt.
In France, André Ayew made his 500th league appearance when he featured for Le Havre in their 3-1 loss to his former club Olympique Marseille on Saturday:
