The Kasoa Ofaakor Jei River Police have arrested two suspects for allegedly stealing iron rods from the Agenda 111 construction site at Kasoa Ofaakor in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.
According to the police, a third suspect is currently on the run.
The Agenda 111 is a flagship government initiative aimed at improving healthcare infrastructure across the country.
Police recovered 31 pieces of 18mm iron rods hidden in a tricycle, popularly known as 'Aboboyaa.'
Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted that this was their second time stealing from the site.
Eyewitnesses reported that the three suspects arrived at the scene in the tricycle and were intercepted by security officers stationed at Odupong Ofaakor Senior High School.
One of the security officers, Emmanuel Sakyi, said they grew suspicious of the suspects and, upon questioning, the suspects confessed to stealing the rods from the Agenda 111 site.
Mr Sakyi’s vigilance and timely intervention helped the police apprehend two of the suspects.
