As part of its continued engagement with faith-based communities, a delegation from GCB Bank PLC paid a courtesy visit to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, at his residence in Fadama-Accra, ahead of the Eid al-Adha celebrations.
The visit, led by Mr Sina Kamagate, Executive Head of Retail Banking, representing the Managing Director, Mr Farihan Alhassan, was marked by goodwill, prayers, and a donation in support of the upcoming festival.
Addressing the gathering during the visit on Wednesday, June 4, Mr. Kamagate explained the simple but meaningful purpose of the occasion.
“We come on a very simple mission,” he said. “We all know that we have entered the month of Dhul Hijjah. We have actually done eight days of the month, so the next two days will be Eid al-Adha, and that is what has brought us here.”
He acknowledged the Chief Imam’s enduring generosity, noting how his residence has long served as a place of spiritual refuge and physical sustenance for many, particularly during Islamic festivities.
“We know that Mallam’s house accommodates a lot of people, and we have all been beneficiaries of the benevolence of our father and grandfather, the Chief Imam. So we came first of all to greet him and see how he is doing, and secondly to present some donations in support of the upcoming Eid al-Adha.”
On behalf of the bank, Mr. Kamagate presented a bull and a cash donation, which had already been delivered, to support the Chief Imam’s preparations for Eid.
He explained that Managing Director of the bank, Mr Farihan Alhassan, had personally asked him to lead the delegation and make the presentation.
The Chief Imam warmly received the delegation and expressed gratitude for the thoughtful gesture. In response, he offered heartfelt prayers for the GCB team, invoking divine blessings and protection upon them and the entire institution.
“I’m praying this kind of space—may God bless that space. May God increase the blessings,” the Chief Imam prayed. “You as individuals and as a collection, may God bless all of you. Your lives—individual lives—may God bless your lives. Whatever may bring misfortune or mishap in the work that you do, both as individuals and collectively, may God grant you His protection. May God unite your minds, and may God open the doors of abundant blessings for you in the work that you do.”
The visit highlighted the bank’s strong relationship with Ghana’s religious leaders and its ongoing commitment to national unity, peace, and shared cultural values.
It also reflects GCB’s broader corporate social responsibility approach, which includes support for faith-based communities during key moments of the religious calendar.
Eid al-Adha, expected to be observed in the next two days, commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. It is a time of reflection, charity, and community, values that GCB Bank seeks to uphold in its engagements.
