Member of the Black Stars Management Committee, Stephen Appiah, has no doubt about Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The senior national team endured a torrid run of form during the 2025 AFCON qualifiers - failing to win any of their six matches - but bounced back with emphatic victories over Chad and Madagascar in the World Cup qualifying series.
The Black Stars now sit atop Group I with 15 points, three clear of second-placed Comoros, with four matches left to play.
“For what I saw against Chad and Madagascar and the friendlies, the Unity Cup that we played in the UK against Nigeria and Trinidad, it has given me a lot of hope,” he told Citi Sports.
“The new players who came showed themselves [well]. So yeah I am very convinced that we still have four games to play but when you do the calculations, nothing tells me that we are not going to qualify.”
Ghana will reassemble in September for the World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
