The former Member of Parliament for Bortianor‑Ngleshie Amanfro, Sylvester Tetteh, has publicly declared his intention to contest the position of General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the party’s next national executive elections.
According to him, the NPP needs bold, innovative, and pragmatic leadership ahead of the 2028 general elections, and he is poised to provide such leadership.
In an interview on Nhyira FM in Kumasi, the former MP and Deputy Minister pledged to bring bold, tech-driven leadership to secure the party’s future.
“The NPP needs innovation, energy, and unity – and I am ready to serve,” he stated.
Mr Tetteh made the announcement during a live interview, where he outlined his vision for repositioning the NPP for electoral victory in 2028 and beyond.
“I have made up my mind to contest for the General Secretary position of our great party. The time has come to inject new energy, innovative ideas, and strategic thinking into the administrative leadership of the NPP,” he added.
A former Deputy Minister for Information and former Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Mr Tetteh highlighted the importance of building a strong, united party grounded in effective communication, grassroots mobilisation, and youth engagement.
He emphasised the need for a General Secretary who is not only committed to party unity but also forward-thinking in leveraging digital tools and data to enhance the NPP’s organisational capacity across all regions.
Mr Tetteh’s declaration adds momentum to the internal build-up within the NPP as the party begins early preparations for the 2028 general elections.
