President John Mahama is optimistic that his administration's flagship 24-Hour Economy policy will transform the country in a positive direction.
According to him, the initiative has evolved from a campaign idea into a national strategy designed to accelerate inclusive economic growth.
"We have moved from slogan to strategy today. In 2024, the idea of a 24-hour economy captured national attention," he said.
He said this at the official launch of the policy in Accra on July 2.
Addressing the gathering, President Mahama spoke about how the policy "became a slogan of hope, a symbol that change was necessary and that it was possible."
He is, however, not oblivious to the potential challenges that may arise during the implementation process, adding that his administration is poised to see it through regardless.
“Our task now is to ensure that the necessary change is with the implementation. This launch is not the end, but it is the beginning of a massive national mobilisation,” the President added.
He added that "the 24 Hour Agenda is not just about extending working hours."
"It is about unleashing productivity, expanding opportunities, accelerating export through well-structured and inclusive interventions.”
