The leadership of Parliament, led by Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga, on Tuesday, July 8, paid a solemn visit to the family of the late Member of Parliament for Akwatia in the Eastern region, Ernest Kumi, to express their condolences and stand in solidarity with the bereaved household.

The visit took place at the family residence, where parliamentary leaders, including senior MPs and officials, offered words of comfort and signed a book of condolence in memory of their fallen colleague.

Ernest Kumi, the Member of Parliament for Akwatia, passed away unexpectedly earlier this week.

Known for his dedication to development in the Eastern Region and his strong grassroots connection, Mr. Kumi was a first-time MP who quickly rose as a respected voice within the House.

His death has shocked Parliament and the nation, with tributes pouring in from across the political divide.

This marks a particularly painful loss for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), under whose ticket he was elected.

The Parliamentary Service has assured the family of its full support as preparations for a befitting farewell begin.
