Oluwadamilola Fisayo Adediran (Esq.), a leading Nigerian financial technology and legal expert, has been awarded an honorary doctorate in Financial Technology Compliance by Benin Republic's Heim Weldios University.
The prestigious recognition was conferred during a grand convocation ceremony held at the university's Lagos campus, where Ghanaian architect Kofi Essandoh and four other distinguished African professionals were similarly honoured.
The award celebrates Barr. Adediran's exceptional contributions to Nigeria's rapidly evolving FinTech sector as Manager of Governance, Legal & Compliance at Zone Payment Network Limited.
Her work in developing robust compliance frameworks and payment system regulations has positioned her as one of Africa's foremost experts in financial technology and governance.
Ghanaian honoree Kofi Essandoh received recognition for his architectural innovations, standing alongside other awardees, including Nigeria's Oluwakemi Adesola (Nampak Nigeria PLC), Engr. Kazeem Ajanaku (Cotter and Knuckle Engineering) and mental health expert Dr. Temitope Aborisade.
"This honorary doctorate reinforces our commitment to celebrating African excellence across disciplines," said a university representative during the Lagos ceremony, which brought together scholars and dignitaries from across the continent.
For Barr. Adediran, the honour adds to an impressive collection of accolades, including the 2021 Nelson Mandela Leadership Award of Excellence and Integrity as a West African Youth Role Model, and Zone Payment Networks' Outstanding Performance Award. Kofi, on the other hand, expressed his gratitude for the honour and reiterated his continued commitment to promoting professional and academic excellence while supporting the propagation of the values of the university.
The dual recognition of Ghanaian and Nigerian professionals at the ceremony highlights the growing collaboration between both nations in shaping Africa's technological and infrastructural future.
As FinTech continues to drive financial inclusion across the continent, experts like Barr. Adediran is proving instrumental in developing the regulatory frameworks that will sustain this growth.
The awards underscore Heim Weldios University's mission to recognise transformative leadership, with this year's cohort representing the brightest minds advancing Africa's development in technology, engineering, mental health, and business innovation.
