The Member of Parliament for Tano North, Dr Gideon Boako, has drawn attention to the deteriorating state of roads in his constituency, describing the situation as dire and in urgent need of intervention.
He made the appeal during proceedings in Parliament on Wednesday, July 23, when he questioned the Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, about plans to address the challenge.
Dr Boako noted that several communities across Tano North are grappling with inaccessible roads, which have been further worsened by recent rains.

According to him, the poor road network is severely affecting economic activity, especially farming and the transportation of goods.
“The people of Tano North are hardworking, but the bad roads are becoming a major obstacle to their productivity,” he said.

He urged the Roads and Highways Ministry to prioritise Tano North in its upcoming projects, especially feeder and cocoa roads that link farming communities to markets.
“If immediate steps are not taken, communities such as Duayaw Nkwanta, Yamfo, Bomaa, and Tanoso will continue to suffer, and the development of the area will be stifled,” Dr Boako stressed.

In response, Minister Agbodza acknowledged the concerns and assured the House that the Ministry is currently assessing roads nationwide and will factor the Tano North Constituency into its maintenance and rehabilitation plans.
He added that resources will be allocated based on urgency and economic impact, pledging to engage the MP further on specific routes needing immediate attention.
