The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has refuted recent reports of a shortage of Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK) in Ghana, assuring the public that sufficient quantities are available to meet current demand.
In a statement issued on Thursday, July 24, the Authority explained that the ongoing supply chain for aviation fuel remains robust and resilient, with key infrastructure repairs already completed to ensure uninterrupted distribution.
According to the NPA, engineers from the Ghana Petroleum Mooring Systems (GPMS) have successfully replaced 600 metres of pipelines dedicated to the discharge of ATK.

“These engineers have had to work 24 hours daily to replace the pipelines,” the Authority noted, acknowledging the round-the-clock efforts of the team to restore full operational capacity.
Currently, a vessel carrying 10,000 metric tonnes of ATK is actively discharging into national depots, including 6,000MT to the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), 1,500MT to the Ridge Depot, and 4,500MT to the PWSL depot.
The Authority stated that this supply is expected to last two weeks. Additionally, two more vessels are at anchorage and are scheduled to discharge their cargoes in the coming days, further boosting national reserves.
“The tankers are currently loading at the Sahara Depot to the airport. This is a strong signal that the supply chain remains intact and resilient,” the statement added.
The NPA urged the media and the public to disregard any reports suggesting a shortage of aviation fuel, reaffirming its commitment to energy security and the continuous availability of petroleum products across the country.
