The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has inaugurated a new Governing Board for the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), calling on its members to drive innovation and position Ghana as a leading tourism destination.
Speaking at the ceremony on Monday, 4 August 2025, Gomashie urged the board to strengthen collaboration with stakeholders and deliver strategies that would expand Ghana’s tourism, culture, and creative arts sectors.
The newly constituted board comprises professionals from various fields who pledged to advance tourism, culture, and the creative arts as key pillars of national development.
The Ghana Tourism Authority, established under the Tourism Act 817 of 2011, is mandated to regulate, manage, and promote Ghana’s tourism industry.
Its responsibilities include licensing and classifying tourism enterprises, developing tourism products, and marketing Ghana as a competitive destination for domestic and international travellers. The Authority also works closely with stakeholders to implement national tourism policies and drive investment in the sector.

Kwame Adu Darko Okyere-Mensuo (Ministry of Finance)
Samuel Seth Passah (Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs)
Joseph Osiakwan (Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources)
Suweibatu Adam (Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology)
Afi Amoro
Prince Anthony Bart-Appiah
Bella Korkoe Ayayee Ahu
Darison Baba Al-Hassan
Gertrude Emefa Donkor
The board is expected to provide strategic oversight to ensure the Authority fulfils its mandate and plays a significant role in leveraging tourism, culture, and creative arts for economic growth.
