Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has called on Ghanaians to set aside partisan differences and come together in mourning, following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of five senior government officials and three crew members.
Speaking after laying his wreath at the Jubilee House on Friday, August 8, Dr Bawumia, who was the 2024 flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), described the incident as a national tragedy that transcends politics.
“This is a national tragedy. Eight public officials on official duty… they were in the service of this country, and they had this tragic accident, and they all lost their lives.”
“This is not a partisan issue, this is a national tragedy. You should expect full participation from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) because this is our national duty. We will fully participate,” he added
Dr Bawumia laid his wreath alongside other key NPP figures.
Earlier, former President John Agyekum Kufuor also visited the Jubilee House to pay his respects, while Alan Kyerematen of the Movement for Change was also seen at the ceremony.
