The build-up to the much-anticipated 2025 Homowo Cup has gathered momentum with an exciting series of stakeholder engagements across Accra and the Volta region.
As part of the official trophy tour, organisers of the event have paid courtesy calls on key personalities and institutions, reinforcing the competition’s role in promoting unity, culture, and sportsmanship.
The tour kicked off with a visit to the National Youth Authority (NYA), where officials expressed strong support for the tournament’s vision of empowering young people through sport. Discussions centred on how the Homowo Cup could serve as a platform for nurturing talent and fostering community pride.

The team also met with the Mayor of Accra, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, whose office pledged to facilitate city-wide engagement for the event. The Mayor lauded the initiative for showcasing Accra’s vibrant culture while bringing football closer to the people in the Homowo festive period.
In another significant stop, the organisers presented the trophy to the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams. The Minister commended the team for blending football with cultural celebration and underscored the government’s commitment to backing initiatives that project Ghana positively on the continental stage.
Other visits include to media houses, including Joy Sports, the National Sports Authority and other key stakeholders.
These visits form a vital part of the Homowo Cup’s community activation drive, aimed at rallying public interest and ensuring that the tournament becomes more than just a football match, but a true celebration of heritage, unity, and competition.
This year's Homowo Cup will see defending champions Accra Hearts of Oak take on Kpando Heart of Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, August 17.
