Former Member of Parliament and former Lands Minister, Inusah Fuseini, has called on Ghanaians to rally behind the Lands Ministry as it intensifies its operations against illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
He said, "For me, I think that we need to encourage the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources to continue doing what they are doing and keep their eyes on the ball," he said on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, August 16.

He emphasised that national support is crucial, noting that many individuals have exploited loopholes in the system to cause severe environmental damage. "Because people burnt on acting with impunity, they have so exploited this country to the extent that they now believe that it is an entitlement."
Mr. Fuseini condemned the destructive practice and expressed hope that the menace would soon come to an end.
His comments come in the wake of the 6th August tragedy that claimed the lives of eight people while on a mission to combat galamsey.
