A new survey by Global InfoAnalytics projects a win for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Bernard Baidoo, in the Akwatia by-election scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
Conducted between August 27 and 28 with a sample of 2,050 voters, the poll shows Bediako leading with 53% support, ahead of his main rival, Solomon K. Asumadu of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who garnered 47%.
The by-election follows the passing of the late NPP MP, Ernest Kumi, on July 7, which created the parliamentary vacancy. Akwatia, historically a swing constituency, is seen as a key battleground and a test of both parties ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The survey also indicated that voter preferences are influenced by issues such as unemployment, economic hardship, and limited access to social amenities, in addition to party loyalty.
Global InfoAnalytics, however, warned that undecided voters could play a decisive role, potentially solidifying Bediako’s lead or narrowing the gap in favour of Asumadu.
