Event organisers, DJs, MCs, artiste managers, bloggers, YouTubers, musicians, film makers, fashion designers, visual artists, dancers, comedians and other creative entrepreneurs will converge on Saturday, 6th September 2025 for Joy FM’s 7th Showbiz Roundtable.
The event, themed “GRA Vs. Creatives – Taxation and the Future of Ghana’s Creative & Digital Economy”, will also bring in officials from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to engage the creative community on the impact of taxation on their work. It will be broadcast live at 2 pm on Joy 99.7 FM and Joy Prime television.
From the GRA, Victor Yao Akogo, Chief Revenue Officer at the Domestic Tax Revenue Division, and Isaac Kobina Amoako, Chief Revenue Officer and Head of the GRA IT Training Centre, will speak on the authority’s approach to creative industry taxation.
Representing the creative industry are Kojo Poku, Vice President of the Event and Meeting Professionals Association of Ghana; Francis Doku, Chief Executive Officer of Maestro Africa Group; Robert Klah, Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse; and Latif Abubakar, Playwright and CEO of Globe Production.
The discussion is expected to highlight how taxation policies affect the growth of the creative economy, while addressing widespread concerns over what many creatives describe as crippling levies on their activities.
Last year’s edition focused on mental health in the creative sector, featuring artistes such as Ko-Jo Cue, broadcaster and counselling psychologist Natalia Andoh, creative entrepreneur NanaYaw Wiredu, and health professionals Nortey Dua and Dr Albert Sedohia.
Since its inception, the Showbiz Roundtable has examined issues including post-event safety, sponsorship, manifesto debates on the creative economy and mental health, establishing itself as a platform where creativity and policy intersect.
The programme is hosted by Kwame Dadzie and produced by Philip Nai, with production support from Anita Teye, Martin Kwadwo Asare and Oliver Fangnon.
