A fatal accident at Kormantse on the Cape Coast–Accra Highway has claimed the lives of eight people and injured five others, including a child and the driver of a truck.
The crash, which occurred around 3:50 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, involved a Mercedes Benz with registration number AS 4146-25 and a Hino truck, GW 5958-25.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Mercedes Benz was heading towards Cape Coast while the Hino truck was travelling to Accra.
Firefighters from the Mankessim Fire Station later extricated two trapped victims who were suspected to have died instantly.
The injured were taken to a nearby health facility for treatment.
With assistance from other stakeholders, the accident scene has been cleared and the road reopened to traffic. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the crash.
