Private legal practitioner and lecturer at the Ghana School of Law, Bobby Banson, has revealed that serious negotiations are ongoing to bring closure to Engineers & Planners’ (E&P) acquisition of Azumah Resources Ghana Ltd and Upwest Resources Ghana Ltd.
Speaking on JoyNews’s Newsfile programme on Saturday, September 13, Mr Banson, who is part of the legal team for E&P, said the parties involved remain committed to ensuring the process is concluded transparently and in line with the law.
“There are serious negotiations underway to bring closure,” he disclosed. “What is important is that the transaction follows due process and that all stakeholders — from regulators to host communities — are carried along in a fair and transparent manner.”
The deal, which transfers all issued shares of the Ghanaian beneficial owner to E&P, has been described as a turning point in Ghana’s mining sector, particularly after nearly two decades of stalled development.
Mr Banson stressed that completing the negotiations will unlock significant benefits for both the state and the affected communities.
“With gold prices above $3,000 per ounce, this is a window of opportunity Ghana must not lose,” he said.
“We want to assure the public that this process is not only legal but also strategic for the country’s economic transformation, job creation, and mining industry growth.”
