Joy FM’s new music analysis segment, Music Lab, will review Shatta Wale’s ‘Street Crown’ on Saturday, 20th September 2025.
The song, released about a month ago, has received endorsement from fans and industry players, including Jamaican dancehall star Vybz Kartel. It is also topping various music charts.
The maiden edition of Music Lab aired on Saturday, 16th August 2025, where the panel analysed Black Sherif’s ‘Sacrifice’.
The segment is designed to take listeners behind the scenes of Ghana’s most talked-about songs, exploring the creative and technical processes that bring them to life. It covers vocals, lyrics, instrumentation, arrangement, and production.
Experts such as music producers, musicologists and other creatives join the show to provide commentary and insights.
This week’s edition will feature resource persons including Austine Woode (broadcaster), Kofi Boachie-Ansah, also known as ‘Beatmenace’ (audio engineer), Freeman Daniel Ame (voice coach and artiste development manager), and Hubert Kofi Anti, also known as ‘Ubeatz’ (music producer).
According to Joy FM, Music Lab seeks to educate and entertain. It targets music lovers, creatives, students of music, media and the arts, as well as industry professionals.
Its goals include demystifying the technical and artistic processes behind hit songs, celebrating creativity and skill in Ghana’s music production, highlighting the evolution and diversity of Ghanaian music, and providing a platform for learning and critique.
Showbiz A-Z, which hosts the segment, airs on Joy 99.7 FM every Saturday from 2pm to 6pm. It is hosted by Kwame Dadzie and produced by Philip Nai, with support from Anita Teye, Oliver Fangnon and DJ Wobeti.
